    3D Modeling

    We utilises a variety of software packages to create dimensionally accurate 3D models of vessels even before they are built. The software is used to make direct measurements, calculate areas and volumes and perform a full array of design calculations.

    Our primary product is our pre-cut aluminium Marine Kits®. Once designed, the entire boat is pre-cut and flat packed in Complete Knocked Down (CKD) form for shipping. We guarantee the kit’s materials, precision, consistency and accuracy, providing better outcomes for our clients.

    We offer a range of engineering services including the provision of complete vessel engineering systems design and documentation to required survey codes, structural design and finite element analysis, mooring design, lifting arrangements and more.

    Gavin Mair

    Managing Director

    Diploma in Naval Architecture Technology (Maine, USA 1986) Diploma in Computer Programming 1986, Diploma in Civil Engineering 1984

    Gavin started competitive sailing at the age of nine and after building his first boat at the age of 17, an international Moth class, represented his state in National sailing competitions. Gavin has grown the company to a highly respected design consultancy and kit boat supplier and has taken on the overall role of managing the company and final design approvals. Gavin has been responsible for winning the export sales around the world.

    Jayden Mair

    General Manager

    Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Hons)

    Jayden graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from the University of Western Australia in 2009. After three years of consulting mechanical services in the construction industry Jayden returned to Global Marine Design with knowledge and experience in mechanical design in the marine environment, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analysis (FEA).
    Outside of office hours he enjoys being on, in or around the water. When the seabreeze is in Jayden is an avid kite boarder and during the lulls loves to go fishing.

    Alex Babaeff

    Kit Boat Designer / Marine Draftsman

    Assoc. Diploma Mechanical Engineering 1998

    Alex joined the company in 1996 prior to his graduation in Mechanical Engineering. He is involved in the ongoing development of our marine kits products and his long dedication to the company sees his main role as a senior kitset designer responsible for major projects.
    When Alex is not assessing vessel stabilities or creating vessel kits, he is often outdoors with his family or running and is an aviation and motorbike enthusiast.

    Nenad (Ned) Granic

    Marine Drafting and 3D Modelling

    Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering and Chemistry Associate Diploma in Applied Science Coded Welder

    Ned is a European based GMD team member trained in the GMD head office in Australia and in 2009, moved to his wife’s home country of Serbia. His wide knowledge base is acquired from work in Information Technology and practical experience in fabrication. This has provided Ned with an in depth understanding of the requirements of boat development. He has been a part of GMD team since November 2006. At the moment, he enjoys travelling, being outdoors and sailing on a wonderful blue Danube. Ned has excelled at 3D modelling since his introduction to it at GMD and takes the role of our 3D modeller.

    Stephen Tyler

    Marine Design Engineer

    Steve has worked with GMD on an ‘as required’ basis since the early 1990’s, whilst engineering a Global 22m DNV crew boat. Steve’s strong technical knowledge in the marine high speed craft sphere along with his significant engineering management experience in the marine industry has seen him involved with an extensive range of high profile projects. Residing in the Philippines, Steve consults to GMD providing highly detailed designs and drawings.

    Leonie Jandt

    Executive Assistant

    Bachelor of Accounting and Law - 1990

    Leonie commenced employment with the Global Marine Design in February 2012 as GMD’s Administrator and Gavin’s Executive Assistant. Leonie’s working background has been quite varied, after having completed a Bachelor of Business Degree in Accounting and Law in 1990. She has worked in a variety of positions including as an Accountant in Chartered Accountancy, as a lecturer for TAFE and her more recent positions as an Administrator for a various organisations. In her free time she loves to go travelling, boating and camping with her husband and her two boys.

  • Patrick Hemphill

    GMD Sales – North America

    Patrick has spent a good bit of time on the sea and in various aspects of marine construction – from owner/operator yachts, commercial fishing industry, world-class mega yachts, to the massive ships used in the ultra-deep-water offshore oil and gas industry. Patrick is an experienced mate, DP officer, engineer, and electro-tech officer, and has a diverse technical background. Patrick spends his free time mountain biking, sea kayaking, scuba diving, trekking, or exploring the world around him.

    Abraham Rosemberg

    GMD Sales – South America

    Abraham started his professional career in 1980 as an Ensign in the Brazilian Navy. He graduated from the University of São Paulo in 1986 with a degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, and obtained his MSE’s in Hydrodynamics and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1994. He is a passionate offshore sailor and has volunteered his services for many years with the International Sailing Federation. Abe is actively working in the Superyacht and Commercial vessel brokerage market, as well as various engineering projects.
